Frase Review

AI-powered SEO content platform for research, writing, and AI visibility tracking

SEO & Search · From $39/mo

Overview

Frase relaunched in 2026 as what its own docs call the agentic SEO and GEO platform, and the new product is materially different from the brief-and-editor tool most reviews still describe. The current loop is: connect a site, run an audit that crawls up to your plan's audit-page allowance, review prioritized opportunities, then let Frase Agent research a topic, draft the page in your brand voice, and publish it through WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, or Wix. Content quality is scored three ways on a 0-100 scale (EEAT Score, GEO Score, and SEO Score, with 70 to 85 described as solid), Content Guard monitors published pages and proposes confidence-tagged fixes, and Frase Answers, added in June 2026, is an on-site widget that answers visitor questions from your own content. AI search is a first-class product line rather than an add-on: AI Visibility tracks cited URLs, sentiment, and share of voice across ChatGPT and Google AI on Starter, adding Perplexity on Professional and Claude and Gemini on Scale, while GEO Optimization tunes content for extraction and citation. Plans are Starter at $39 a month billed yearly ($49 monthly, 1 seat, 10 articles, 50 audit pages), Professional at $103 ($129 monthly, 3 seats, 5 sites, 40 articles), Scale at $239 ($299 monthly, 5 seats, 10 domains, 100 articles), and Enterprise custom, with extra seats at $29 and optional overages. Every plan includes API, MCP, and CLI request allowances from 5,000 to 50,000 a month, which is unusual for an SEO suite to publish. Frase is owned by Copysmith, whose trust center also lists Describely and Rytr, and operates as a remote-first company. The 7-day trial is free with no credit card. It fits teams that want research, drafting, publishing, and AI-visibility tracking in one place, and that will trade a traditional editor for an agent-first workflow.

Pricing

Frase is sold on paid plans, from $39/mo.

Starter $39/mo yearly ($49 monthly, 1 seat, 10 articles); Professional $103/mo ($129 monthly, 3 seats, 5 sites); Scale $239/mo ($299 monthly, 5 seats, 10 domains); Enterprise custom; free 7-day trial, no card

Current plans and limits live on the Frase pricing page.

How to install

  1. No install: hosted SaaS. Signup is at signin-next.frase.io/sign-up and the app lives at next.frase.io; legacy accounts can still log in at app.frase.io, and the docs publish a legacy migration guide.
  2. Onboarding is three documented steps: set up your brand profile and competitors, connect Google Search Console under Settings, Workspace integrations (about two minutes), then run your first crawl from Optimize, Site Health.
  3. The free trial is 7 days with no credit card, and its documented limits are 1 domain, 50 audit pages, 25 AI prompts, 5 articles, 10 briefs, 3 team seats, and 5 hero images.
  4. Publishing connects directly to WordPress over its API with no plugin, filling Yoast or Rank Math meta fields; Webflow, Sanity, and Wix connectors are documented, and FraseCMS hosting is included on every plan.
  5. For agents, Frase runs an MCP server at next.frase.io/api/mcp plus a CLI (npx @frase/cli), documented for Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, Cursor, and the terminal, on every plan.

Requirements

A browser plus a site you can verify: the Google Search Console connection powers SEO analytics and AI Visibility context, and publishing needs CMS credentials or an API connection. Plans meter articles, audit pages, AI generations, AI Visibility prompts, and API/MCP/CLI requests, so realistic monthly output is the real requirement. Roles (Owner, Admin, Editor, Viewer) arrive on every plan except Starter's single seat.

Best for

Content teams and agencies that want one platform covering research, drafting, optimization scores, publishing, and AI-search visibility, with MCP and CLI access for agents. Professional (3 seats, 5 sites) is the natural in-house fit; Scale's 10 domains and agency client portal target multi-brand work.

Not for

Writers who want a traditional editor they control: the product is agent-first now, and the legacy app is a migration path rather than a destination. Also not for teams needing SEO data depth beyond audits and SERP analysis, since there is no keyword database or backlink index here, and historical data stops at 3 months on Professional and 12 on Scale.

Review notes

Assessed from frase.io, docs.frase.io, and the pricing page in September 2026; we have no Frase account and have not run the agent. The docs are current and specific, with a published whats-new feed whose newest entries are Frase Answers (June 24, 2026), 16 content types plus Wix publishing (May 21, 2026), and Content Guard (May 14, 2026).

The structural correction: our earlier description described Legacy Frase, with Solo, Basic, and Team plans and document credits. Those plans no longer exist. Current plans are Starter, Professional, Scale, and Enterprise; credits became articles, audit pages, AI generations, and AI Visibility prompts; and AI Visibility moved from a paid add-on into every plan with prompt caps of 50,200, and 500.

Two more corrections. The price floor is $39 billed yearly, not the $15 we published, so our price_from changes with it. And the integrations list loses Surfer SEO (a competitor with its own comparison page, not an integration) and the Chrome extension (not documented anywhere we read); the documented set is Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, Google Docs, Notion, Slack, Linear, GitHub, and CMS publishing.

Ownership is the fact a buyer should weigh: Frase's own trust badges point to the Copysmith trust center, which names Frase.io, Describely.ai, and Rytr.me as its products. The live about page gives no founding year and no founders, describing a remote-first company, so we dropped our earlier founded-2018 and New York claims. For a tool that stores your content pipeline, ask about roadmap independence across the three brands before an annual commitment.

Verdict

An agent-first rebuild of a familiar brief-and-draft tool, now with real AI-visibility tracking and published API limits; strong value at $39, provided you want the agent workflow and accept Copysmith ownership.

Frequently asked questions

What is Frase?

How much does Frase cost?

Frase starts at $39/mo.

Is Frase a good SEO & Search tool in 2026?

An agent-first rebuild of a familiar brief-and-draft tool, now with real AI-visibility tracking and published API limits; strong value at $39, provided you want the agent workflow and accept Copysmith ownership.

How much does Frase cost in 2026?

Four plans: Starter at $39 a month billed yearly ($49 month to month) with 1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles, and 50 audit pages a month; Professional at $103 ($129 monthly) with 3 seats, 5 sites, 40 articles, and 250 audit pages; Scale at $239 ($299 monthly) with 5 seats, 10 domains, 100 articles, and 1,000 audit pages; and Enterprise, custom and scoped to your org. Yearly billing takes 20% off, extra seats are $29 a month on Professional and Scale, and the 7-day trial is free with no credit card.

What is the difference between Frase's AI Visibility and GEO features?

The docs draw the line explicitly: AI Visibility is about tracking, GEO is about optimization. AI Visibility monitors tracked prompts, classifies each as awareness, consideration, or decision, and reports cited URLs, position, sentiment, and share of voice, with prompt caps of 50 on Starter, 200 on Professional, and 500 on Scale, and engine coverage expanding by tier from ChatGPT and Google AI to Perplexity, then Claude and Gemini. GEO Optimization scores how well a page is structured to be extracted, trusted, and cited, expressed in the 0-100 GEO Score alongside EEAT and SEO scores.

Does Frase still integrate with Surfer SEO?

We found no Surfer integration in Frase's integrations page or docs index; Surfer is a competitor, and Frase publishes a comparison page against it. The documented integrations are Google Search Console, Google Analytics 4, Google Docs (an OAuth connector for imports, brand voice, and exports), Notion, Slack, Linear, GitHub, and direct publishing to WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, and Wix, with Zapier, Make, and n8n possible through the REST API. An earlier Chrome extension is not documented anywhere we could read.
